4 Safaris: 9 to 12 November 2023 | 23 to 26 November 2023
On a hot summer afternoon, under the scorching sun, our experienced driver silently parked the gypsy in front of an old forest department rest house. He told us that this rest house is now home to a healthy population of ferocious cats, leopards. So now we know from where the wild tales of the Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary originate. These tales surge the adrenaline through our bodies. The dense Tendu and Tiwas welcome you to the forest.
On this four day safari, tracking a leopard regally walking under the sun by following the alarm calls of deer and monkeys is the most adventurous experience in the jungle. The wildlife sanctuary is nature’s asset, wrapped in the arms of nature. It provides priceless picturesque landscapes, scenic beauties and fresh air for the visitors. Along with leopards, the forest is home to wild dogs, sloth bears, tigers, nilgai and many other mammals. Our drivers and guides know best to track these bold beauties. And the silent search is at times interrupted by scops owls, nightjar and owlets, indicating the day comes to an end. Nagzira is probably the best place in the country to sight these predators in their natural habitat.
The forest gets its name from the Naag temple exactly in the middle of the jungle, while ‘Zira’ in Marathi translates to the perennial source of water. The numerous streams inside the woods have a number of fishes that makes a delicious meal for the grey-headed fish eagle. Oriole, Drongo and Paradise Flycatcher provides delightful sight while dipping in the water. This paradise is a boon to us, and we must treasure this beauty. It also acts like a ‘green-lung’ for the human settlement and helps maintain the environmental balance. Come explore this living outdoor museum with us for a lifetime experience!
